Dr. Kikiope Oluwarore, Founder - One Health and Development Initiative

Dr. Kikiope is a veterinarian with more than a decade of interrelated experiences in Animal Welfare and One Health programming, research, and nonprofit management. She bagged her DVM degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and further acquired an M.Sc. degree in Global Health and Infectious Diseases at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland through the Commonwealth Scholarship. She is also an alumnus of the 2021 Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation program.

In the course of her work on animal welfare and One Health, she has managed national, sub-national and pan-African programs and research with organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), African Union-InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), and Animal Advocacy Africa (AAA). She has also established and led nonprofits dedicated to animal welfare and One Health causes – cofounding Healthier Hens (a global hen welfare charity) and founding the Nigeria-based One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI).

Kiki’s passion for animal welfare (including of aquatic life) stems from its seeming neglectedness and scale of impact, especially in the global south. She recognizes the need for concerted collaborative action, with awareness, advocacy, policy influencing, and movement building to alleviate the suffering of aquatic life; and is committed to supporting the change process to achieving improved welfare of aquatic life globally.
